85 BRAKE CONVERSION
The stock 85 Mustang comes with 10" front rotors. In 87 Ford upgraded the Mustangs to 11" rotors. The following lists the parts needed to convert your 85 Stang to 87 & up 11" front brake system.
87 to 93 Calipers
87 to 93 Rotors
87 to 93 Spindles
87 to 93 Caliper lines
87 to 93 Front brake pads
Very simple upgrade when you have the parts so I won't go into detail about how to remove bolts. Just swap everything over. Everything else will work. Below is a list of additional parts you can add to this upgrade but are not absolutely necessary.
New Front Wheel Bearings: Why not replace them now.
New Lower Ball Joints: Why not replace them now.
Lowering Springs, Rack Bushings, Caster/Camber Plates: While your there if you have the cash why not kill all your birds with one stone.
New Struts: Why not replace them now.
New Polyurethane Bushings in A-Arms: For a few extra bucks why not.
I suggest replacing the front wheel bearings and lower ball joints at the time of the upgrade especially on used parts. You never really know what the previous parts went through or the shape they are in.
