Replacing the door lock Actuators
Written by: Mr. Kelley
Instructions:
- Remove the armrest from the door.
- Remove the door handle plastic cup piece.
Remove the door panel by pulling outward to release the
panel clips and up to pull the door panel up and out of the window crevis.
- Remove the power lock and power window controls from the
door panel.
- Unclip the wiring harness.
- The actuator is held in place by a metal bracket with two
c-shaped clips on the inboard and outboard sides, it should pop out of the clips by
pulling level and straight towards the front of your car.
- At this point the linkage hook will come undone if you
angle the actuator towards the interior skin, and jiggle it while pulling down.
- There are two round plastic bushings on the factory
actuator that just slip over the side posts on your new actuator. These allow the actuator
to pivot a little in the bracket while "actuating" the door locks. I recommend a
bit of lithium grease on the actuator rod spirals before putting the new one in.
- Plug the harness in and give it a few tries before putting
the door panel and armrest back on.
